Junior Jeremy Strawn tossed his second complete-game shutout of the season in the Florida Atlantic University baseball team's 3-0 win over FIU on Friday, May 17 at the FIU Stadium. The Owls have now won six straight games and the second straight road Sun Belt Conference (SBC) series.

FAU (34-20, 18-11) got on the scoreboard early with a lead-off home run by senior Nathan Pittman. It was his fourth home run of the season and extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games. A FIU throwing error on an infield single by freshman Brendon Sanger allowed senior Mark Nelson to score the team's second run in the first inning.

The two-run margin remained until the sixth inning when sophomore Mitch Morales successfully laid down a squeeze bunt that allowed sophomore Ricky Santiago to score from third base.

Strawn scattered six hits and did not allow a walk to improve to 5-2 on the season. The right hander also had a complete-game shutout against nationally ranked University of South Alabama on March 31.

FAU outhit the Panthers 11-6 with Pittman, Santiago and Sanger each collecting two hits.

The Owls will try to end the regular season by capturing their second straight road SBC series sweep on Saturday, May 18, starting at 1 p.m. Live audio and statistics of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
